Now that the 2017 football season is officially upon us, the majority of my content will be focused on the bears and possibly other NFL teams as well, like the Dallas Cowboys and all their fuck ups this past off-season, I’m looking right at you Ezekiel Elliot. I may be a little late to the party on this one but I do wanna go over what I saw this past Thursday, when the Denver Donkeys took on my Chicago Bums. I’ll go over what was good, what was bad, and what was fucking hideous from last weeks game.
The Good
Mitch Trubisky - Now look, I’m not going to just crown this guy as the Franchise player of this team just yet. We all need to realize that this was just one pre-season game, and he was playing against some hard core ass scrubs. That being said, the kid looked fucking good. His ability to throw on the run, the accuracy, the mobility and the decision making was all on fleek. He ran the 2 minute drill to perfection and completed 10 passes in a row. The kid is the talk of the town, and Mike Glennon is starting to feel the pressure.
And no I’m not going to mention any pressure on Sanchez, cause he a bum.
The Defense - I was very impressed with how the defense stacked up against Denver’s first team offense. Right out of the gate, the first series of the game for the bronco’s offense resulted in Trevor Siemian being swallowed up by that BAD MAN Leonard Floyd. The dude is going to be a force to be reckoned with. His first step, agility, speed, and strength will be too much for opposing tackles to handle. The Defensive line played very well, consistently applying pressure to the QB and stopping the run game. The front seven surprisingly has a lot of depth, as the 2nd team defense handled themselves fairly well.
The run game - We got running backs for days sweethearts. You name one we got it. Tarik Cohen is shifty, elusive, and is the perfect compliment to Jordan Howard. Kadeem Carey was really impressive as well, and is making a strong case to stay on the roster this year. Even Benny Cunningham played well, showcasing his return ability and speed. I would imagine that the bears would feature four running backs on their roster this upcoming season, starting with Howard, Cohen, Carey, and Cunningham with Langford still nagging with an ankle injury.
The Bad
1st team offense - Oh boy these dudes made my stomach churn in the first four series of the game. The ground game was nonexistent, which I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt because they went up against a very good Broncos defense. Leno struggled against the pass rush, which is troublesome because he is in a contract year, and his biggest issue is consistency. He has the tools to be a solid starting left tackle in the NFL, but with this years draft class being loaded with tackle prospects, if he doesn’t shape up, he is is going to be shipped out. The wide outs could not get any separation, and were dropping balls. Overall, they need some time to clear up the mistakes and find some rhythm and chemistry because if these issues continue into the regular season, Glennon and Mitch will struggle.
The Ugly
Mike Glennon - GODDAMN WAS THAT HARD TO WATCH. I legitimately thought I was watching Jay Cutler all over again. And yes the offense around him really didn’t help the cause, but lord almighty, that throw into triple coverage really brought back some haunting memories. I mean 2-8, for 20 yards, and interception, and a passer rating of 0.0. Jesus HE NEED SOME MILK! His performance is very concerning because if Mitch continues to impress and Mike continues to struggle, then I’m sorry but Trubisky has to be the starter, even if the plan all along was to sit him. Hopefully he preforms better against the Cardinals this Saturday, but to say there isn’t a QB competition in Chicago anymore is horse shit.
See y’all really…..really….soon
BEAR DOWN.
