It’s almost that time of year again fellow NFL fans (why yes, here at Crappy Thoughts we cover sports as well, #FuckJoeBuck) where we are close to the start of the regular season.

We will get to witness a new class of rookies compete for starting jobs as well as try and make a name for themselves in the league. Or you can end up like Johnny Manziel, become an alcoholic, beat your girlfriend, and flame out in a 3 year career. Seriously, this dude couldn’t last on the Cleveland Skid marks.

Now many of you don’t know this but I am a huge Chicago Bears fan (sadly) and I have seen a lot of losing and mediocrity over the past 12 years due to the shitty ownership known as the McCaskeys. These are the people that okay-ed the Marc Trestman hiring, which is enough to know what we are in for.

But there is reason for optimism, as this year we traded up 1 spot in the draft to select Mitchell Trubisky, the quarterback out of North Carolina. Now I’ll be honest with you all. I was livid when this happened because I believed that there was no QB worth taking in the top 10, not even Deshaun Watson. But once I slept on it I realized that this was a necessary move in order to bring us back to Superbowl contention, because in the NFL if you don’t have a franchise QB then you will never be shit and will always miss out on the playoffs (like da bums). Yes the Bears did invest a lot of money into Mike Glennon, but only as a 1 year starter as he is due 16 million this season, then 2 million the next, and that is it. A guy who is a stop gap player with a lot of upside.

If the Eagles can get a first round pick for SAM FUCKING BRADFORD and if (and that is a big if) Mike Glennon booms in chi-town, you can be in the position to command a lot of draft pick currency to a QB needy team. He ain’t a bad QB, just mediocre, the way the Bears like it.

And then you got buttfumble, The “Sanchize” in Mark Sanchez who is a walking turn over. Laugh all you want, the only purpose he has on this team is to mentor Mitch and Mike like he did with Dak Prescott. We have had to suffer for 9 years watching the man known as Jay Cutler (good luck in Miami Jay).

cutler

And while it wasn’t all his fault, he definitely deserves some of the blame. And yeah I know statistically he is the best QB we have ever had but damn 1 playoff win in 9 years, can’t stay on the field, and throws interceptions like no other.

It was time to move on and we finally have a crop of QBs with potential. I for one am really excited about the Trubisky era, and if I’m wrong about him, I’ll be a man about it and admit it, but I think he is the guy. He’s got the accuracy, athleticism, leadership, and intelligence that makes up a franchise QB. And if y’all think I’m being a little bias, well then EAT A DICK CAUSE WIN OR LOSE I RIDE WITH MY BEARS. Chi-town is the town. #FIREGARPAX
