Now we here at Crappy Thoughts don’t usually take our own content too seriously, but with this article in particular, I just wanted to state my opinion and thoughts on the tragic events that have struck the music world this past week.

For all of you that don’t know by now, lead vocalist of the very popular rock band Linkin Park, Chester Bennington, has tragically passed away by committing suicide. He was only 41 years of age and left behind a wife and six children, so let us all keep them in our thoughts and prayers. Linkin Park was in the middle of their new tour for the One More Light (available to purchase here) album.

At first glance I thought it was just one of those fake death stories that people make up in order to cause a stir and create headlines, but once news outlets like CNN and NBC started posting the story, my heart sank. Now I’ll be honest, I am in no way a die hard Linkin Park fan, but I am a casual listener and my play list featured them a lot, especially in my younger days when I would hit the gym trying to loose my keg of beer (belly fat).

I always admired the amount of raw emotion and sound the Chester would produce when he had the microphone in his hands, you felt chills run down your spine when you would listen to songs like In the End, Numb, Catalyst, and Crawling. The energy and love you saw when Linkin Park would preform was insane as people held phone lights and lighters in the sky waving their hands in harmony when Chester and Linkin Park would be preforming. His interactions with the fans were even more incredible as he would hop off stage and start singing with in the crowd, holding hands with his die hard followers.

As this article comes to a close, I just want to take the time to talk with our audience about the seriousness of depression and mental illness. Please, if you are feeling depressed or have the idea about killing yourself, remember that you aren’t alone, you have friends and family that really care about you as an individual. Contact them or the suicide hot line and seek out some professional help, because in the end, you matter and people that dearly loved you will be wondering why and what could I have done to prevent this tragedy.

Don't do it

Here at Crappy thoughts we love y’all. Stay safe and have a wonderful day.
